I hit a deer on the way in to work. Me and my truck are fine, but the deer is all busted up and I had to call the sheriff’s department to finish it off. Fuck.

Deer are the ‘Kamikaze’ of the animal world. I’ve bounced one or two off 4x4’s over the years. They are a pest animal and not native to Australia.

Smarter? My cousin is out west and used to be in forestry. If you look at the map of British Columbia you’ll see the Queen Charlotte Islands about halfway up the north coast. Anyways on those islands the deer are inbred, and they are even stupider than regular deer. The good news is though that they are small. But they are dumb as all get out. lol.

One swing is not likely to do it. Probably take multiple hits, and there’s a good chance that the deer is still kicking/twitching like crazy from the shock. So now you have to try and hit a big animal moving around a bunch

That's good. For me a small buck jumped over a guard rain and into my car. His antler put a huge dent in the hood and everything on the drivers side was done for. Collapsed the suspension on that side too.

Hair! Lucky, I needed a new bull(deer)bar and paint/panel work.

Side fact; I hit an early 90’s Corolla up the rear* at about 35kmh about a month later, exactly the same damage but on the OPPOsite front corner. That year I got a Christmas card from the panel repair shop.

*legally my fault but it wasn’t my fault I swear. (No humans were hurt in the making of that accident)
